Here is my second Joomla! plugin, Summary. The purpose of this lightweight mambot is to enable users to write a summary of their article that will be displayed as introduction text with or without being included in the full text article. Optional arguments and parameters allow to place a link around the summary text to the full text article. The mambot is very simple and should not use much resources.

Syntax

{%summary [full="1" link="1" class="class"]}Summary text...{/summary}

The "%" character was added so that the example bot would be ignored on this page.

Several markups may be entered in the same article. The summary text of each bot will be appended one after each other.

Arguments

full

Optional. Indicates whether the text between the bot markups should be included in the article full text version.

0 - Not included. (Default)

1 - Included.

link

Optional. Determines whether a link to the full text article should be placed around the summary text. Overrides the global "Link to full text" parameter. If used in more than one markup in the same text, only the argument of the last markup will be used.

0 - No link.

1 - Link to the full text article.

class

Optional. Specifies the class name of the link placed around the summary text. The class name is appended to the default class name from the plugin parameters.

Demo

A demo of the "Summary" plugin is in use in my picture galleries. Those are composed of standard Joomla! articles with sample images surrounded by summary markups so that they are shown as introduction while the full text article contains the full gallery.
