It took me a while but it's there. I just released version 0.2.0 of my tiny Joomla! plugin, Bot link, which places automatically links around occurrences of any chosen piece of text or any regular expression... The main new feature of 0.2.0 is that Bot link recognizes and avoids HTML markups and translate the special characters like & or '... This is especially useful when one needs to link small keywords which might also be found inside any markup... |

I'm pleased to announce the "release" of my first Joomla! extension, a small plugin named "Bot link". It automatically places links around pieces of text in Joomla! articles. It may be used with a simple text expression or more advanced perl regular expressions. An additional nice feature is that It does not introduce links in places already containing one... I hope you will all enjoy it! Links |

My blog is based on Joomla 1.0.13 and uses the OpenSEF component to generate search engines friendly urls. One great OpenSEF feature is its use of the menus to generate nice directory-like urls for the main components of one's website. For example, http://www.moleculargeek.net/index.php? option=com_docman&Itemid=42 may become (this may be customized) http://www.moleculargeek.net/downloads/ as the menu item pointing to the component is named downloads. This works out of the box except for a tiny bug for which I just found a workaround... |

So, I just discovered a simple software that allows the viewing of DNA sequencing chromatograms, named FinchTV, and thought to post about it. FinchTV is a simple application that was developed with the Qt libraries and runs as such under Linux, Mac OS and Windows. |

Beryl was just amazing on Ubuntu 7.04... until you had to work at the same time it was running (at least with an nVidia graphic card). Now that Beryl and Compiz stand united under the Compiz fusion flag, I must say it has become more than just usable! It is bloody stunning! |
