Have you ever tasted cheese fondue? As a Swiss, I had the opportunity to taste some... If you are not reluctant to melted cheese and white wine, you'll find a very social dish that is absolutely not recommended if you are on a diet! I in fact made a discovery last night... Fondue with champagne instead of the traditional white wine. I had heard about that many times before but had actually never tried it. The champagne makes the fondue slightly more expensive but it is definitely worth it! The flavour of the cheese becomes much finer and the fondue seems lighter! I won't put the recipe here since you will find tons of them and better informations about fondue through this wikipedia article. If you want to make fondue with champagne, just replace the amount of white wine by an equal amount of champagne that is not sweet... Bon appétit!

I had the very pleasant surprise to discover that the producers of EVE Online ported the client of this massive multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) to Linux! Both .deb and .rpm packages (as well as .tgz) were released thereby providing support for the many different Linux distributions (including Ubuntu 7.04 and higher). Just follow the link... One bad point is that ATI video cards are not supported. For the lucky nVidia users, the latest nVidia drivers are at least recommended... A nice tool to instal them in Ubuntu is Alberto Milone's Envy installer that may be downloaded on his website (http://www.albertomilone.com/ ) My first impressions are definitely positive. Only the graphics of the game are not quite as fluid as under Windows (with the same computer). This might come from the drivers for my nVidia card which seem not to be of the same quality as the ones for Windows. I still have to check situations where many objects have to be displayed but it definitely seems playable! I'll stop here with this post... some gaming to do... I'll come back with screenshots, I promise!

I migrated a year ago from Windows to Ubuntu "Edgy Eft" Linux which quickly became my main operating system. It's there that I got the problem that each migrant gets at one point: How do I replace those specific softwares which I so badly need for work? I was well accustomed (addicted?) to Vector NTi (Developed by Invitrogen), the reference for DNA/Protein sequences management and edition softwares in the Windows environment. Here, I write about a software which is a good alternative to Vector NTi for basic needs, and works in the Linux, Windows and Mac OS environments, please let me introduce CLC Free Workbench.

It has been quite some time now since I first had the idea to build my own website (Have a look at the credits if you are interested in how it was built), but I did not manage to find the time until a few days ago. I am a PhD student in the Molecular Biology Department of the University of Geneva (Switzerland), and, as such, I don't have as much time to hack as I would like.
