EVE "Onlinux" Print E-mail

I had the very pleasant surprise to discover that the producers of EVE Online ported the client of this massive multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) to Linux! Both .deb and .rpm packages (as well as .tgz) were released thereby providing support for the many different Linux distributions (including Ubuntu 7.04 and higher). Just follow the link...

One bad point is that ATI video cards are not supported. For the lucky nVidia users, the latest nVidia drivers are at least recommended... A nice tool to instal them in Ubuntu is Alberto Milone's Envy installer that may be downloaded on his website (http://www.albertomilone.com/ )

My first impressions are definitely positive. Only the graphics of the game are not quite as fluid as under Windows (with the same computer). This might come from the drivers for my nVidia card which seem not to be of the same quality as the ones for Windows. I still have to check situations where many objects have to be displayed but it definitely seems playable!

I'll stop here with this post... some gaming to do... I'll come back with screenshots, I promise!
